Preparing Your Home:

You'll want to make your home a safe place for your new puppy by eliminating potential hazards around the house. Here is a list of things you will want to look out for.
  1. Hide or cover any electrical cords and outlets.
  2. Store all household chemicals out of reach.
  3. The following indoor and outdoor plants can be toxic to a dog: English Ivy, Burning Bush, Poinsettias, Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Japanese Yew, and many spring bulbs. Check with your vet for a more comprehensive list.
  4. If you own a pool or hot tub, make sure the cover is secure and that the puppy cannot gain access to it.
  5. Toys should not have small parts that can be swallowed and cause choking. Do not use raw hide as it softens and may cause the puppy to choke.
