Preparing
Your Home:
You'll want to make your home a safe place
for your new puppy by eliminating potential hazards around the
house. Here is a list of things you will want to look out for.
- Hide or cover any electrical cords and outlets.
- Store all household chemicals out of reach.
- The following indoor and outdoor plants
can be toxic to a dog: English Ivy, Burning Bush, Poinsettias,
Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Japanese Yew, and many spring
bulbs. Check with your vet for a more comprehensive list.
- If you own a pool or hot tub, make sure
the cover is secure and that the puppy cannot gain access
to it.
- Toys should not have small parts that
can be swallowed and cause choking. Do not use raw hide as it softens
and may cause the puppy to choke.
